PhoneZero Operator
When the task ends at a phone call.

Our Grok Bots use PhoneZero whenever they need to call someone, either because a call is the preferred way to reach them or because websites and other MCPs aren’t enough to finish the task. The bot plans the call, gets your yes, places it, and reports back what a live person said.

Real calls

Two calls our Grok Bots made.

Tokyo trip planning

A Japanese booking, made overnight.

A trip-planning Grok Bot determined it needed to call a local restaurant to complete a Japanese booking. It used PhoneZero to place the call overnight and reported back with the reservation info.

Local plans with friends

The dog policy OpenTable didn’t show.

Choosing where to meet up with friends, a local planning Grok Bot called the restaurant through PhoneZero to confirm the group could bring their dogs. Then it completed the booking on OpenTable, which didn’t disclose the dog policy.

How a call works

Plan first. Your yes. One call. A straight answer.

  1. 01

    Online first

If a website or booking service can finish the job, the bot uses it. The phone is for when they can’t.

  2. 02

    A plan you approve

It shows who it will call, what it will ask, and the name it will introduce itself with, then waits for an explicit yes.

  3. 03

    One real call

An xAI voice agent places the call from your own Telnyx number and talks with the person who answers.

  4. 04

    One clear outcome

Succeeded, unavailable, no answer, needs you, unknown, or failed, along with what the person actually said.

Built to be trusted

You stay in control of every call.

  • ✓AI disclaimer on by default. The person on the line hears who they’re talking to.
  • ✓You choose the spoken name. It asks before calls unless you tell it to always use one.
  • ✓Keys never go in chat. For passwords, 2FA, ID, or payment, it hands the computer back to you.
  • ✓Guided setup, not homework. It walks you through Telnyx and xAI setup step by step, on your computer.
  • ✓Open source. The runtime, prompts, and skills are MIT-licensed on GitHub.

What you need

Two accounts, then you’re calling.

  • 1.Telnyx: KYC complete, one US phone number, and an API key.
  • 2.xAI: a team API key with Zero Data Retention off, and Voice Agent Builder at console.x.ai.

PhoneZero is a sample runtime with no product support. You’re responsible for calling laws and vendor terms where you use it, and nothing here is legal advice. See the disclaimer.
